Iris and Rose have always been rivals for their mother's love. When their mother suddenly dies of cancer, Iris is convinced that her 24-year-old married, pregnant and successful sister was the favourite. Iris, a reckless 19-year-old finds herself unable to grieve. She leaves her job and starts wandering around in her mother's fun fur jacket and cancer-necessitated wig. In an attempt to feel something, Iris embarks on a self-destructive search for sexual fulfillment, initiating encounters that become increasingly terrifying and humiliating. Eventually, Iris finds her way back to Rose. But when she sees that Rose is wearing their mother's favourite ring, which Rose had said was lost, she attacks her sister bitterly... Tightly scripted and under a superb directorial control of the narrative, the film creates a moving and horrifying portrait of a woman driven to the brink with grief, desire, confusion and desperation.
