Ivan, a popular stage and film actor, is disillusioned with his personal life. His decision to abandon everything and retire to a friend's houseboat provokes great upheaval and concern. The public flocks
to the banks of the Danube to watch him. A young director who was
in the process of filming a portrait of the actor for television is in despair, while a young female member of a theater troupe finds his decision extremely appealing. Confronted by the crowd of onlookers, Ivan refuses
to speak about his decision. All he wants is to make a new start;
to live a simple life; to be able to smell the fragrance of wildflowers. However, he will soon realize he is once again a prisoner...
