Chios 1960. Following the sudden death of their field guard (a kind of policeman that existed in rural Greece years ago), the community council of Tholopotamo keeps pressing the region's administrator to appoint someone else in his place. The available field guards refuse to go to Tholopotamo, which has a bad reputation, and where a colleague of theirs died in the course of duty. When the community council renews its demand, offering an added financial incentive, four field guards apply for the position. The administrator hires and fires them, one after the other, when each of them fails to carry out his assignment.

Biography
He was born on the island of Chios, in 1952. He studied literature at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University
of Athens, and drama at the Yorgos Theodossiadis School
of Drama.
