  • The film deals with the new-fangled views on the commemoration and preservation of the remnants of the past, and specifically the remains of our traditional industrial units (water, coal, petrol, as well as electricity), that stud the whole of Greece, abandoned and left to the ravages of time, decay, rust and dust. A young architect walks around the industrial ruins (now seen as archaeological sites), while at the same time becoming aware of a radical change in our consciences, which consists mostly of the recognition that industrial remains are historical monuments that testify to a great deal of pain and toil, as a cure for need. Silent Machines is a lyrical encomium to rust and a filmic memorial to technical civilization and Homo Industrialis.
