At an institute for blind children in Tehran, summer vacation is imminent. Parents arrive to pick up their kids, and young Mohammad expectantly waits long after his comrades have left. Eventually, Mohammad's father, a widowed and poor coal worker, reluctantly shows up to retrieve him. They embark on a journey home to the country, in the heights of northern Iran. What follows is a joyous celebration of life and color and, for Mohammad, the beginning of a mature meditation on nature and being...

He was born in Tehran, in 1959. He began his career
as an actor, and then made several short films,
before directing his first feature, Baduk, in 1991.
