The film looks at three generations of women. The first episode tells the story of Hava, a little girl coming up to the age of nine. On the morning of her birthday, her mother reminds her that, now that she is a woman, it would be a sin for her to go out of the house and play with the boys. The little girl cries and insists on going out. Her grandmother points out that Hava was born at midday, so they let her go out for a few hours. The second episode focuses on a girls' cycling race. The girl leading the way is continually hounded by her relatives, who remind her, increasingly threateningly, that if she continues this simple pass-time, she will be thrown out of the house. The third episode starts out in an airport concourse, where an old woman, confined to a wheelchair, makes her way through, buying everything she has never been able to buy during her life: a refrigerator, a television set, a dishwasher, and an electric iron...
