The place is Seoul, and the time is the end of the 20th century. Do-Sub, a struggling screenwriter, wants to write a thriller, but must first complete a script for a melodrama. He overcomes his writer's block and finishes the work, only to have a computer virus erase it all. He then witnesses a terrible car accident involving the taxi in which he was just a passenger... At the party for her 21st birthday, Soh-Ryung, a college student who moonlights as a call-girl, meets and begins a relationship with the son of a man who was once a client of hers... University lecturer Kang-ha has casual sex with a woman reporter named Hong. Meanwhile, his department chairman lets him know that expects a hefty bribe if he is to grant him tenure. Some time later, Kang-ha receives a note from Hong, telling him she's pregnant... In September 2000, we visit the various protagonists to find out what lessons they have learnt. Not many, apparently...
