Holdup drops us in the middle of a microcosmic and claustrophobic power struggle, each of the combatants attempting to take control of a situation that is rapidly deteriorating around them. Heavily in debt, Andreas needs money and decides to carry out a robbery. He enters a small tailor's shop and pulls out a gun, realising as he does so that there's probably not very much in the till. After a brief exchange with the cranky tailor and his inane customer, Andreas would like nothing better than to turn around and leave, but it is too late. Trapped inside the shop by the surrounding police, the trio locks horns in an intense and often insane battle of wits...

Biography
He was born in Salzburg, in 1965, but now lives and works
in Vienna. His first feature film, Halbe Welt, won, among others, the Special Jury Prize at the Geradmer Fantasy Film Festival, while his second, Suzie Washington, received
the Carl Mayer-Preis for best screenplay, as well as an award for best Austrian fiction film. In 1998, Flicker was honoured with the Austrian prize for the encouragement of cinematic art.
