SYNOPSIS

Samia is a teenage girl of Algerian descent living in Marseille with her family. At home, Samia and her two sisters live in an Algerian culture. They speak the language, eat Algerian food, observe the customs of their Muslim religion and attend weddings that are constant reminders of their parents' history. But, as youngsters, they are torn; despite their parents' objections, they want to assimilate. To be a young girl in this environment is even more difficult, for traditions tend to restrain any perceived independence. When the father of the household is hospitalised, responsibility for maintaining order shifts to the eldest brother. As she begins to spread her wings, the quick-witted, attractive and wilful Samia soon finds herself at loggerheads with her mother and brother...
