Two young women live in Paris in 1962. Pauline, aged 17, a student, dreams of leaving home and become a singer. Suzanne, aged 22, looks after her two children. They part, and each one fights the struggle of being
a woman. They meet again, ten years later. Suzanne is working in family planning, while Pauline has become a singer. Fate will bring them together again in 1967. By then, they will have lived out Simone de Beauvoir's adage: "You aren't born a woman; you become one".
