HELLENIC ASSOCIATION OF FILM CRITICS AWARD

Today, Sunday, November 17th, the Hellenic Association of Film Critics presented their award to Penny Panayotopoulou for her film Hard goodbyes: my father, at Warehouse C at the Thessaloniki port.

Kostas Terzis, the president of the Hellenic Association of Film Critics spoke about last night's assembly of the members of the association: "In this year's International Thessaloniki Film Festival, the Hellenic Association of Film Critics determined that most of this year's Greek productions used aged narration techniques that presented today's problems indifferently and carelessly".
"Therefore, we would like to point out that the process of selecting films for funding seems to follow the outdated standards of light dramaturgy. However, something indispensable has sprouted from this year's panorama of Greek films: the dynamic work of young female directors. The Hellenic Association of Film Critics applauses this trend by awarding Penny Panayotopoulou for her film Hard goodbyes: my father, with 9 votes and 5 votes to Katerina Evangelakou's film Think it over. Penny Panayotopoulou deals with the subject of loss with a complex, infiltrating and direct manner combining her immaculately processed screenplay with cinematic finesse".

Penny Panayotopoulou claimed that she feels honoured by the Association's decision: "I'd like to say that I feel proud from the bottom of my heart. I'd also like to thank my colleagues who worked extremely hard for the film. Finally, I'd like to thank those that supported the film with their love and financial support, and especially the Greek Film Centre".

This year, the jury of the Association of Technicians of Greek Cinema and TV with a unanimous decision, presents their award for technical merit to Katerina Evangelakou's film Think it over.
