NEW HORIZONS / CONCERT PANSONIC

NEW HORIZONS

The Finnish band Pan Sonic appeared in 1994, at first recording with the cult Finnish label Sahko and since 1995 with Blast First of the legendary Mute family. Pan Sonic soon gained recognition as one of the most important electronica bands. Their groundbreaking, unique sound led critics to compare them to such influential artists as Kraftwerk. Modern urban reality is reflected through their analogical sounds (they use specially designed instruments) and strict compositions. Emerging from a transitional time, they manage to translate the industrial aesthetics into techno/digital culture. They have occasionally collaborated with artists such as Einsturzende Neubaten, Bjork, Suicide, Ryiuchi Sakamoto, and KLF, among others.

So far, Pan Sonic have made numerous live appearances all over the world, both in large festivals (Sonar in Barcelona) and more artistic venues, such as the Pompidou Center in Paris and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. They will be making their first solo Greek appearance in Thessaloniki, having played with FM Einheit (Einsturzende Neubauten) at the Bios Festival in Athens.

The Greek band S.ink will open for Pan Sonic. Considered as one of the most promising new bands, S.ink originated in Thessaloniki and will soon be recording with Poeta Negra. Their music is a mix of electronica and kraut rock.

The concert will take place on November 16th at Hydrogeios (33, 26 Oktovriou St.).

This event is organized by 360, a non-profit company developing new technologies and applications, and the New Horizons section of the Thessaloniki Film Festival, in the context of its 43rd edition.
