e-magic: INTERNET MEDIA OR THE 8TH ART
This year in the framework of the 43rd International Thessaloniki Film Festival, e-magic will be presenting the wide range of artistic creativity spewing from the Internet at club Mylos and at the facilities of the Thessaloniki Port. In their press conference today, Nikos Giannopoulos and Dimitris Skoufis of e-magic spoke about the company's ambition to establish a yearly international conference for Internet multimedia as part of the Organisation of the Thessaloniki Film Festival.
"We'd like to thank the Thessaloniki Film Festival for once again harbouring an event not entirely associated with cinema but one that deals with another aspect of audio-visual creativity. e-magic is literally a demonstration of a competitive festival that is to begin next year. It is going to an on-line festival with media developed and distributed through the Internet", explained Mr. Giannopoulos.
Supervising the event are Dimitris Skoufis, electrician, ART TOPOS, Anna Hatzigiannaki, art historian, Nikos Giannopoulos, director and producer, and the European Meeting for New Art and Technologies.
Structure and character of the programme
Nikos Skoufis spoke about the programme: "Beginning tomorrow from12:00-15:00 and 18:00 and onwards, e-magic's programme will focus mainly on one of most important theoreticians of experimental cinema, Lev Manovich, professor at the University of California". The programme will last for five days and is divided into 5 thematic sections:

13/11: Focus on the pioneers of digital media who in 1994 -when the Internet and multimedia were hardly known- began to produce digital audio-visual material and distribute it over the Internet.
14/11: Presentation of material via the Internet made for other mediums (video, cinema etc.)
15/11: Presentation of audio-visual productions made specifically for the Internet.
