PRESS CONFERENCE
GREEK FILM CENTRE
Today, Tuesday November 12th, the president of the Greek Film Centre, Diagoras Chronopoulos, gave a press conference in the framework of the 43rd International Thessaloniki Film Festival. Also present was the vice-president of GFC Mr. Sofianopoulos.
The attendees were welcomed by the director of the Festival, Michel Demopoulos, who said: "The Festival and the Greek Film Centre have always had a virtuous relationship. As a matter of fact, their attendance has traditionally been the most sensational. As a sponsor they play a vital role in the institution's existence and we would like to thank the president and the GFC for their support".
"The importance of the Festival's contribution"
Diagoras Chronopoulos noted the impeccable collaboration between the Festival and the GFC indicating that, "I think that the Festival contributes greatly to Thessaloniki and Greece in general. To say the truth, though, without the GFC's contribution, there would be many problems since most of the Greek films are co-productions supported by us. The Centre's attendance is vital. It presents, distributes and promotes Greek films. We are not content by simply financially supporting films through co-production, distribution or promotion, but we also support tributes to Greek as well as foreign cinema in general".
Speaking with numbers
The president of the GFC noted how the Centre participated in the Thessaloniki Film Festival's "Panorama of Greek Cinema" with 19 films: "I believe it's an important number. More important, though, are the GFC's activities throughout the year. The films that are being shot by directors that we collaborate with amount to more than 100, which, I believe is an incredible number.
