Shooting Stars
at the International Film Festival in Thessaloniki
7th until 17th of November 2002
In February, 2002, during the Berlin International Film Festival, European Film Promotion (EFP) celebrated the fifth anniversary of "Shooting Stars". Over the past five years, EFP has introduced close to 100 of Europe's most talented up-and-coming young actors and actresses to the industry, press and public under the "Shooting Stars" umbrella. Indeed, many of the young actors and actresses who have participated in Shooting Stars over the years since have surpassed their national fame, and gone on to greater acclaim and recognition on the international stage.
This year, EFP is proud to expand the spotlight on a number of these talented "stars of tomorrow", with the presentation of the Shooting Stars Touring Film Programme at the International Film Festival Thessaloniki. The initiative brings a selected group of "Shooting Stars" and their films to the prestigious and highly regarded international event and features a press conference and reception in their honour. The event in Thessaloniki follows the recent presentation of the Shooting Stars Film Programme in Haugesund, Norway and Viareggio, Italy.
In partnering with the Thessaloniki Film Festival in presenting a number of Europe's most talented newcomers to the film community, EFP seeks to broaden the international network for the actors and actresses, and thereby assist them in the development of their future careers.
EFP would like to extend its thanks to the administrative and creative team at the Thessaloniki Film Festival, in particular to Festival Director Michel Demopoulos, for his personal support of this initiative.
The initiative is financially supported by the MEDIA Programme of the European Union.
