Krsko is a bleak industrial town in southern Slovenia, boasting a nuclear power plant, a paper factory, and a motorcycle racing track. It¢s home to Ludvik, a former speedway champion, now a bitter widower. Ludvik makes ends meet by transporting illegal immigrants to the Italian border. The immigrants come from the former Soviet Union, from Albania, Kurdistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Africa and Iran. They all dream of a better future in the West. Ludvik cynically refers to them as "spare parts", because many are prepared to sacrifice a kidney or other organs to pay for their trip. One day, Ludvik acquires an assistant, the callow and impressionable Rudi. Ludvik encourages Rudi to overcome his scruples and exploit a refugee from FYROM for sexual favors. Before long, it isn¢t the ostensibly hard-boiled Ludvik but his younger partner who proves to be the more ruthless of the two.
