The 56th Thessaloniki International Film Festival (November 6-15, 2015) came to an end with its awards ceremony. The film Rams by Grímur Hákonarson received the Festival’s highest distinction, the Best Feature Film Award Golden Alexander – Theo Angelopoulos, which was bestowed in the memory of the renowned Greek director. The Special Jury Award Silver Alexander was bestowed to the film Land and Shade by César Acevedo, while the Special Jury Award for Originality and Innovation – Bronze Alexander was awarded to the film Road to La Paz by Francisco Varone.
The 56th TIFF, which was clearly focused on independent cinema, drew the attention of its cinephile audience who filled the screening theaters. For ten days, films from all over the world, film surprises, important guests, tributes to directors and parallel events, set the tone for this year’s edition. The Thessaloniki International Film Festival has come to an end for this year, but it now starts its preparations for next year’s appointment with the audience in Thessaloniki.
