Organised by the Thessaloniki Film Festival, ERT S.A. and the collaboration of the Greek Film Centre, the support of the Municipality of the City of Thessaloniki, the Canadian Embassy in Greece, the Goethe Institut Inter Nationes E.V. and the sponsoring of Egnatia Odos S.A., ET-3 (Media Sponsor) and Dewar's, Audience Award.

The 4th Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival -Images of the 21st Century, will take place from March 4th-10th, 2002. The event, launched in March 1999, has benefited from the local public's enthusiastic response-more than 16,000 admissions were registered last year-and from the extensive coverage in the local and international press.

This year's main programme will again be focused on documentaries that explore the social and cultural developments in the world, while introducing a number of new side sections and events based on important works by new documentary filmmakers. For the first time in the Festival's history, films from the main programme will be candidates for the FIPRESCI AWARD for Best Foreign and Greek documentary. As in previous years, there will be the AUDIENCE AWARD, carrying the amount of 3,000 Euro.

Seventy - plus foreign and Greek full-length programmes in film or video (90 documentaries) will be premiered during the Festival.
