For the first time this year a Competition section for Greek documentaries with a running time of over 24' has been created. The entries can be in any production format (film, video, DVD). The five member jury will distribute three awards, which are accompanied by cash prizes and up to two honorary distinctions.

Feature length documentaries (over 60') whose producers wish for them to participate in the State Awards competition at the end of the year, will be screened in the Competition Section, but will not participate in it (Out of Competition).

Specifically, the prizes awarded to the films of the Competition Section are as follows:

 1st Prize (12.000 €)
 2nd Prize (6.000 €)
3rd Prize (3.000 €)

  1st and 2nd Special Mention (optional)

The monetary sum is awarded ex aequo to the producer and director of the film.

Aside from these prizes, the Festival will be awarding the following parallel prizes:

 Audience Award - Dewars to a Greek or foreign film (3.000 €).The winner of this prize will be screened at the end of the Festival.

 Fipresci Award (International Film Critics Association) to a Greek and a foreign film respectively.
