In an environment of pervasive corruption, amid assassinations and street riots, the story of a chaotic transition from communism to capitalism is told through culture clashes, electricity disconnections and blackouts. AES Corp., the massive American "global power company", has purchased the privatised electricity distribution company in Tbilisi. AES manager Piers Lewis must now get it through to the Georgian people that, in this new, capitalist world, customers have to pay for their electricity. The Georgians, meanwhile, from pensioners to the Energy Minister, keep devising new and smarter ways to get it for free...
