DISCUSSION: IMMIGRATION AND HUMAN RIGHTS

Immigration and the rights of displaced peoples,
one of the most complicated and difficult to resolve aspects
of globalization, is the subject of a panel discussion that accompanies
the corresponding spotlight of the 7th Thessaloniki Documentary
Festival. A team of people comprised of researchers, representatives
of international and non governmental organizations, journalists
as well as film directors makes up the panel of speakers that
will be moderated by the known constitutional expert Antonis
Manitakis. The reasons that force groups of people to immigrate
to other countries, often violently, the meaning of ethnic and
cultural identity, inclusion, racism and xenophobia, the violation
but also preservation of human rights in vulnerable groups of
immigrants will be examined and analyzed with the participation
and intervention of the audience.
