Giorgos Seferis, the Poet in the Land of Eclipse / Andreas Pantzis

A road-movie in Occupied Cyprus, to the sources of inspiration of George Seferis, the Nobel prize-winning Greek poet. This film is the second of a two-part film concerning the 288 photographs that George Seferis shot in Cyprus during his three trips to the island in 1953,1954 and 1955... Our purpose is to find the relation between his photographs and his poems. We tarce the itinerary of the poet with difficulty, facing continuous obstacles. A Turkish employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the pseudo-state of Occupied Cyprus is constantly with us, allowing or forbidding filming… In the medieval castle of Agios Hilarion, the Turkish army intervenes and filming is interrupted. For four hours, our crew of 22 are detainees, imprisoned in a big medieval room in the castle... The places that inspired the poet are now destroyed, neglected, looted... A road-movie in time and space...
