9th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival

In the mountains of Northern Thailand is a boarding school for hill tribe children. Made up of different tribes, these students and their Thai teachers live together growing their own crops, cooking their own meals and continuing their education far from their villages. Every mountain child, born and raised with the mountain stream running down the side of village wants to know where the river ends. As a reward for the graduating class, the principal will take them to the water’s end.All are poor, some are orphaned, others struggle to learn Thai – their second language – to pass their exams. The long awaited journey isn’t just about going to see the ocean, a world beyond their villages, but also an inner, coming-of-age journey and a taste of the choices they will have to make towards that transition.
