Implementation Guide for "Let's cinema!" at Primary Education

Stage A: At school
  1. Teachers are informed about the "Let's cinema!" programme.
  2. The book "Film Narrative: A Story with Images and Sounds", vol. A', published by the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, is distributed to the students.
  3. An implementation guide for the program is presented to primary education teachers, explaining the procedure.
  4. The film Dumbo the Elephant and the accompanying VHS tape "How to Make an Animation Film" is screened in the classroom.
Stage B: At the cinema
  1. The pupils attend an audiovisual presentation on the art of cinema.
  2. The pupils watch the film The Circus by Charlie Chaplin.
  3. A questionnaire is distributed to the pupils. The questions test their level of comprehension of the program.
  4. Another questionnaire is distributed to the teachers in which they state their opinion of the program.
Stage C: Back at school
  1. On an appointed day, during the daily school schedule, the pupils individually answer the questionnaire with the help of their teacher.
The questionnaire is not a test and, at any time, the pupils can make use of the "Glossary" included in the book which was distributed during Stage A.
The questionnaire helps the pupils to practice their observation skills, while at the same time it evaluates the program's educational possibilities.
  2. The teachers fill in the "Teachers' Questionnaire" and register the number of pupils which participated in the program.
Stage D
  1. A committee evaluates the questionnaires in order to draw conclusions about the relation between the pupils and the audiovisual means used in the program.
  2. The questionnaires filled in by the teachers are used towards the improvement of the program. At the end of the program, the Film Festival issues a "Certificate of Participation" to the schools.
