Implementation Guide for "Let's cinema!" at High Schools & Lyceums
Stage A: At school
- Teachers are informed about the "Let's cinema!"programme.
- The book "Film Narrative: A Story with Images and Sounds", vol. B', published by the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, is distributed to the students.
- Distribution of a leaflet "Let's Cinema! - A programme for introducing cinema".
- Watching the film The Magnificent Seven by John Sturges on VHS tape.
- Classroom discussion and completion of the leaflet "Study guide: The Magnificent Seven".
Stage B: At the cinema
- Watching the audiovisual presentation "Cine-narration: a detailed account with images and sounds". This presentation aims to familiarize students with the basic expressional means of the cinema art, such as "frame" and "shot".
- Watching the film The seven samurai, by Akira Kurosawa.
Stage C: During the students' free time
The students of each High School and Lyceum are given the opportunity to form groups in order to shoot a film. Beginning from the scriptwriting to the final editing -with the appropriate technical equipment (cameras, lights, editing suite) and a professional director's quidance - 183 short films have already been shot during the two years the program has been operating. These films were presented to the public in the Student Film Festival "Let´s cinema".
