Publications

Since 1992 the Thessaloniki Film Festival has been publishing a considerable number of cinema-related works, which amount up until now to more than 50 volumes. They have as subject the most important tributes and retrospectives that have been held during the November festival and throughout the year, as well as exhibitions held during the main event.

These publications include original essays, a rich number of illustrations and the translation of carefully chosen texts.

The Festival has published monographs on such renamed directors as:
John Cassavetes, Jules Dassin, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Nagisa Oshima, Bernardo Bertolucci, Nani Moretti, Jean-Daniel Pollet, Manoel de Oliveira, Ken Loach, Claude Chabrol, Pedro Almodovar, Ingmar Bergman, Robert Bresson, Vittorio de Sica, Kenji Mizoguchi and many others.

Among the Greek film directors and artists are: Takis Kanellopoulos, Stavros Tornes, Frida Liapa, Grigoris Gregoriou, Irene Papas, Nikos Koundouros and many more.

Also, during the celebration of the main festival in November the newspaper Proto Plano (First Shot) is published daily in Greek and English. A Greek edition of Proto Plano is published throughout the year covering all the annual events of the Festival.
