LOCATION - The City

Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece and the country's largest export harbour, is a lively metropolis of one million inhabitants.

At the crossroads of East and West, the site of an harmonious blending of people and civilisations, the city is one of the major financial and commercial centres of South-east Europe.

Thessaloniki's rich cultural tradition is enhanced by its modern museums, art galleries, libraries and other institutions. Blending tradition with modernity, Thessaloniki's inhabitants have a reputation for being friendly and hospitable. Festival guests are offered the opportunity to join in the everyday life of this most joyful city and also to visit prominent historical sites such as Vergina.

LOCATION - The Headquarters

The Olympion Cinema Centre at Aristotelous Square, in the centre of the city houses the Festival headquarters and the two official venues of the event.

The Festival on the Waterfront. Four state-of-the-art venues, a Convention Centre housing the Administration offices, the Press Centre, and two exhibition halls have formed part of the Festival's permanent facilities since 1999. These are all situated in the renovated warehouses at the Thessaloniki port.
