Choreographer turned into filmmaker Miranda Pennel provides
an expanded notion of choreography through her films, alongside
an intimate observation of the human behaviour, ritual and display
in the spheres of private and public life. In Human Radio (an
Arts Council production for the Capture series) she worked with
respondents to an advertisment seeking "living-room dancers"
- people who like to dance behind closed doors. She filmed ordinary
people of all ages dancing in private moments of personal abandon.
Combining subtle detailed documentary-like image with theatrival
invention, she makes a beautiful film on human moments of everyday
transformation.
