The film is based on the performance of the same name. Endless
wandering and constantly changing direction is the key concept
along with the idea of attachment. Stripping off, walking on
all fours, the study of movement through the manipulation of
the body by others are recurring features of the Swiss choreographer's
vocabulary. Yet, this time their synthesis is distinguished
by unprecedented unity and absorption, without climaxes, without
cruelty. This change may be the result of the fact that the
choreographer himself is taking part in the performance - for
the first time after a long time - and of the physical contact
with his dancers that this entails. Although hardly intentional
on the choreographer's part, the ritual movement makes spectators
respond by watching in a discreet - even pious - manner. Detailed
and equally discreet, Vincent Pluss's filming enhances this
feeling without ever becoming distanced. The soundtrack consists
of sounds produced electronically during the nine-month rehearsals
by Franz Treichler. Credit for the marvellous lighting must
go to Daniel Demont.
