This year's festival celebrates young artists: There are more works by artists to discover than by those we have known from the past. They are more, they are younger, they have more variety in their luggage.

Inflecting Space
2004/ 6'
director, photography, editing: Popi Iakovou. choreographer: Kostas Gerardos. music: Stephen Daltry. performer: Kostas Gerardos. producer: Popi Iakovou, Cumis. Greece
Διαπλάσεις are about memory- memory as a brain process, taking place in people's minds, and about the mechanism that causes it, expresses it, determines and re-determines; a mechanism based on non-linear, non-rational models as far as both time and space are concerned. A different series of events is formed in our memories, which has nothing to do with the "actual" chronological sequence of events but with emotional triggers.
We often wish to forget, not to remember, to empty our heads. Yet the city is charged with memories, so we resort to nature. In nature, our protagonist is liberated from his memories, his brain empties, and he finally manages to establish his own space.
Popi Iakovou is a graduate of the School of Architecture, University of Thessaloniki, and her post-graduate studies at Cambridge, UK focus on Architecture and the Moving Images.

Untitled
2004/ 6'
director, choreographer, photography, editing: Rena Tsaggaiou. music: Kirjuel. performer: Niki Chadjivassiliadou. production: Rena Tsaggaiou. Greece
The same place as when left day after day for the roads. The back roads. Returned to night after night. Paced from wall to wall in the dark. The then fleeting dark of night. Now as if strange to him seen to rise and go. Disappear and reappear at another place again. Or the same. Nothing to show not the same. No wall toward which or further from. In the same place as when paced from wall to wall all places as the same. Or in another. Nothing to show not another. Where never. Rise and go in the same place as ever. Disappear and reappear in another where never. Nothing to show not another where never. Nothing but the strokes. The cries. The same as ever.
(Samuel Beckett, Stirrings Still)
