Installation UMBO by New Zealander James Hutchinson in association with Rotor Plus, one of the most important electronica groups in New Zealand, treats the theme of a political stance in a different language. The installation video is a vivid visual expression of the fear for the future of our planet and the need to protest. It begins from the images of our old favorite, the viewmaster, and, reflecting its aesthetic, switches to a constant interchange of images of a humanity in turmoil trying to find peace.
One of the New ZealandΥs most talented and prolific producers, rotor plus remains a mystery to most, quietly producing some of New ZealandΥs best electronic music.
James Hutchinson is a New Zealand based video director, producing works for stage/screen, installations and tvcΥs his work appeared in many arts festivals including AK03 (nz), mixmasters (uk), the New Zealand festival (NZ2004), Perth arts festival (aust)..
