Cuba and the Cameramen

Cuba and the Cameramen

Award-winning filmmaker Jon Alpert (winner of two Academy awards) chronicles the fortunes of three Cuban families over the course of four tumultuous decades in the nation’s history, from the cautious optimism of the early 1970s to the harrowing 1990s after the fall of the Soviet Union and the 2016 death of Fidel Castro. Provocatively absent of an agenda, this American in the last stronghold of Communism enters the frame, thus emphasizing the importance of subjectivity in the reading of “grand” narratives.
