Luz

59th TIFF: Greek Premiere

A rainy evening, a dazed female cab driver enters a desolate police station. Her name is Luz, which means “light” in Spanish, but that night she fights with absolute darkness. Across town, a woman possessed by a spirit longing for Luz, the woman it loves, seduces the police psychiatrist; when he is called to the office to examine the visitor, he’s already under the influence of an unknown power. A masterful, deeply stimulating thriller with a nostalgic touch, which plays with the audience’s senses and cognitive perception alike, to transmit a sense of familiar disquiet they will never explain or forget.
