He was born in Paris in 1952. He is the son of screenwriter and director Michel Audiard. He studied philosophy and literature at the Sorbonne and subsequently worked in theater before he began writing his own screenplays in the mid-80s (occasionally in collaboration with his father). He made his first feature film in 1994. His second film, Un Heros tres discret was nominated for a Cesar Award. Sur mes levres was shown in the Panorama Section of the Berlinale in 2002 and won many awards in festivals around the world.
