The Love That Remains

Ástin sem eftir er

66th TIFF: Greek Premiere

Hlynur Pálmason, one of Iceland’s most distinctive contemporary filmmakers, turns his poetic eye toward the fragility of family bonds in this tender chronicle of a year in transition. The film follows a couple as they navigate the painful terrain of separation while continuing to raise their children together. Through playful interludes, quiet confrontations, and the rhythms of daily life across the shifting seasons, Pálmason evokes the bittersweet textures of faded love, lingering memory, and resilience amidst change. Blending his signature attention to landscape and intimacy, the film becomes both a portrait of endings and a celebration of what endures. The film has been selected as Iceland’s official submission for the 98th Academy Awards.
