Reminiscences of a Journey to Lithuania

Reminiscences of a Journey to Lithuania

A three-episode film diary focusing on the return of director Jonas Mekas and his brother to their native Lithuania and the place where they grew up, 27 years after they were forced to leave. Already a prominent figure in the New York film community, the godfather of the American avant-garde cinema unwinds the thread of his precious archive, starting from his early years in the US and culminating in a return to his birthplace. Through this process, he interweaves the personal with the collective by evoking memories that revolve around this family but also pertain to an entire generation of Europeans who had no alternative but to flee to another continent.
