Orphans

Two estranged sisters reunite five years after the death of their parents. Now in their early twenties, Rosie and Sonia each struggle to make it on their own. When the anticipated party is not what Rosie expects, Sonia’s true agenda is revealed.The sisters begin to revisit their treacherous history. As Sonia slugs vodka and Rosie eats pills, their journey becomes dark and dangerous.

Ry Russo-Young

She was born in 1981, grew up in New York City and graduated from Oberlin College. Her short film, Marion, an homage to Psycho,won the Jury Award for Best Experimental Short Film at both SXSW 2006 and the Chicago IFF 2005. It was also screened at the Tribeca FF 2006. In 2006, she produced and directed a series of short films about neighborhoods in New York City for the Discovery Channel and the travel website www.turnhere.com Most recently, she has worked with artist Doug Aitken on his large-scale cinematic installation Sleepwalkers, which was projected onto the facade of the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
