Winds of September

The film is a coming of age tale set during the year of the Taiwan baseball scandal. In 1996, news breaks out that professional baseball players are being paid by local gangsters to lose games for underground betting. The news shocks the country. In Hsin-Chu, the windy city, nine high school kids will face the question of what friendship really means to them in a cruel world where there is no definition of right and wrong.

Tom Shu-Yu Lin

He was born in 1976 and he is one of the promising new directors emerging from Taiwan. Since he lived in both the United States and Taiwan when he was a child, his films all carry a distinctive mix of cultural backgrounds. In 2003, after receiving his film M.F.A. from California Institute of the Arts, he started working on various film productions. His film "The Pain of Others" won various awards, including Best Narrative Film Award at the Taipei FF 2006.
