“Anthropocene” Tribute: Open Discussion

Sunday, May 24, 20.00

Why does the Festival hold a tribute to the Anthropocene, when we barely know what the word means? Human presence on Earth overturns the balance and jeopardizes the future of our planet. For this reason, the tribute titled “Anthropocene” is framed by a discussion that approaches this topic in a cinematic vein, but also with regard to philosophy, science, and nature, addressing open questions and seeking answers. With: Orestis Andreadakis, the artistic director of TIFF/ Yiannis Boutaris, president and founder of Arcturos / Kostas Stasinopoulos, curator and art historian, Serpentine Galleries, Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) / Konstantinos Voudouris Professor of Geology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki / Vanessa Archontidou, alpinist / Chrysostomos Stamoulis, Professor of Theology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

The Festival organizes a tribute with screenings and also presents a bilingual special edition, titled “Anthropocene”, in which scientists, film and art historians and philosophers attempt to answer the various questions that arise from this new reality. “Anthropocene” is available at the TDF e-shop.
