Several women who live in the vast mainland of Kyrgyzstan and their stories compose the portrait of contemporary Kyrgyz society, whilst talking about Djamilia, the title character of Chingiz Aitmatov’s novel. These ″invisible″ everyday life heroines reveal on camera their deepest dreams and repressed desires. With the use of a silent Super 8 camera, recording the sound separately, the director gets as close as possible to their reality, giving us the impression that our gaze has the power to bring the images to life.
