Forgetting Lenin

Forgetting Lenin

26th TIDF: International Premiere
It takes decades to build a legacy but how long does it take to forget? For many Finns, Vladimir Lenin is to thank for Finland’s independence from Russia in 1917. But with Putin’s aggression in Ukraine, citizens of a small Finnish town of Kotka near the Russian border, have to re-evaluate their views about the fate of Finland’s last remaining Lenin statue. Is the bronze monument a disgrace, a tourist attraction, art, or all of the above? Forgetting Lenin is a short meditation on choosing not to remember.
