The Dead Nation

Tara Moarta

20th TDF: Greek premiere

A recently discovered stunning collection of photographs from a small Romanian town in the 1930s and 1940s narrates a story that is cautiously omitted from the official history books – that of the rising anti-Semitism in the Balkans and the Romanian Holocaust. An openly political found footage essay that reveals the limits of the visual representation of historical reality, while addressing the burning issue of rising extremism in Europe.
