Images in Mirrors

Images in Mirrors is a dramatized documentary based upon the life and work of painter and professor Dimitris Mytaras – a diverse and influential figure that marked contemporary Greek art during the second half of the twentieth century. The novelty of this documentary lies in the fact that the artist “acts” himself, and everybody else involved are the real people who constitute his world.This biography, built around the actual artist and the art historian Liberty Polyzou, unfolds the life and work of the creator through historical events, recollections, documents and testimonies. The shooting locations are original and they are the ones in which he has lived and created fromthe beginning till now. During the film, approximately one hundred paintings of the artist are presented in the place in which he was inspired to create them. And all this, through the prism of his unique sense of humor.

Yannis Vamvakas

He has a degree in Geology from Thessaloniki’s Aristotle University and a Master’s degree in Geotectonics from Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris. He attended the Andreas Voutsinas School of Dramatic Art and acted in numerous films in Paris. In 1988 he returned to Greece.
