The Band

2019 is the year of the 100th anniversary of the Pontic-Greek Genocide. This documentary is based on the autobiography of Yannis Papadopoulos, a member of the local band of Kerasous, the ancient city and seaport currently called Giresun, in northeastern Turkey. During the Pontic-Greek Genocide, the band was “recruited” in order to play marches during the attacks... It comprised 13 Greeks and three Turks, all of whom were eventually slaughtered. Yannis Papadopoulos was the only one to survive.
