The Balcony Movie

Entering into a sustained open dialogue with the hugely influential Chronicle of a Summer (1961), The Balcony Movie brings to the forefront once more questions about the meaning of life, asked again – sixty years on – of passers-by, directly and candidly. The difference here is that the director Paweł Łoziński remains perched on his balcony. People come and go below his apartment, and he stops them to ask how they are coping with life. Each of them is a small but wonderful piece in that vast mosaic we call humanity; each of them another musical note (some happy, some sad) in the thrilling melody of life as it flows along. Autonomous little worlds unto themselves that reveal some part of their bustling inner realities, giving meaningful answers about what it is that drives them. With each answer, the broader “design” is illuminated a touch more. And life goes on. You too can gaze upon it from your balcony.
