Prison Sisters

In No Burqas Behind Bars (15th TDF), we experienced one of the world’s most restricted environments: a women’s prison in post-Taliban Afghanistan. Prison Sisters takes us on the journey of Sara and Najibeh, who have been released from this prison. Sara’s uncle plans to kill her to save his honor. She escapes to Sweden, but Najibeh stays behind. While Sara struggles with her newfound freedom, Najibeh disappears and soon Sara hears that she was stoned to death. Sara and the filmmaker decide to find out the truth, only to encounter a maze of half-truths on the streets of Afghanistan.
