Strong Island

William, the brother of the filmmaker Yance Ford brother was killed 25 years ago in a neighborhood of Long Island, by a white mechanic after a complaint that spiraled violently out of control. Yanci travels back in time, when he was still a girl, and initiates his own research, not to subvert the unfair verdict of the jury, but to make us feel pain, violence and racism under our skin, no matter its color. As the director narrates his devastating story, looking us straight in the eyes through the camera lens, he invents a startling cinematic language.
