Book presentation Camera and ethnography in Greece
The central theme of the collective volume Camera and Ethnography in Greece (Alexandria publications 2022), edited by Athena Peglidou (Assistant Professor of Social Anthropology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and filmmaker) is the relationship between visual technology and ethnography. Following the particular routes of the anthropological discourse in the Greek public sphere, the texts highlight issues related to the cultural processes and interpersonal dynamics that unravel through the use of audiovisual media, multimedia, and hypermedia in field research.
Speakers: Dimitris Kerkinos, head of tributes and “Balkan Survey” of the Thessaloniki International Film/Documentary Festival; Theodoros Konkouris, Associate Professor of Ethnomusicology, Department of Music Science and Art, University of Macedonia; and Eleni Sideri; Assistant Professor of Social Anthropology, Department of Balkan, Slavic and Oriental Studies, University of Macedonia. Moderator: Konstantinos Aivaliotis, director of Ethnofest and Athens Ethnographic Film Festival.
