Kim Jee-woon
He was born in Seoul in 1964. He was a theater actor and director before making his film debut in 1998 with The Quiet Family, which he wrote and directed. After introducing a new genre that the director called “Gory Comedy” with The Quiet Family, he went on to explore other genres, such as comedy with The Foul King; horror with A Tale of Two Sisters; and film noir with A Bittersweet Life. The Good, the Bad, the Weird, an OrientalWestern, is yet another unfamiliar and fresh cinematic genre. The filmwas screened out of competition at the 2008 Cannes IFF.
