Ellis Island Tales: Traces / Memoires

Recits d' Ellis Island: Traces / Memoires

A landmark documentary on the places of Diaspora and the immigrant’s condition of inner exile, where the archimedean point for director Robert Bober’s and narrator/scriptwriter’s reasoning is Ellis Island – the piece of land across Manhattan, where the National Museum of Immigration is built today. A film about the tension between our desire to grow roots and our confrontation with the shapeless nature of human life.
